    1. SundayYAthon5 Words Home, Christmas, family, friendship, warmfuzzies.Wow.Just a peek at the names contributing and you know it s going to be special, before you even open this book up And once you do Well, I was blown away.As a collection, I think this worked fantastically There was something for everyone to love within these pages, and I loved the range of styles and interpretations of the central theme I do have my favourites, but there wasn t a single story I disliked. At the end of each story [...]

    2. The perfect book to start December off, and get in the Christmas spirit My favourite stories from this collection were Cat Clarke s and Lisa Williamson s, and the perk of a collection like this is definitely discovering new authors, so if you want to sample UKYA, I highly recommend this festive read

    3. 3.5 This is not the country I am born in My land is Iraq I came here one year ago, when I was thirteen years old Now I am fourteen When I come came here, I had little English When I came here I had not much speech at all My speaking voice I think was buried in war ash and dirt Sita Brahmachari, I ll Be Home for Christmas This book is a collection of heartwarming short stories from leading UK YA authors, all giving different interpretations of what home means to them I think you can always expect [...]

    4. A really heartwarming collection of short stories by UKYA authors about all the different ways teenagers feel about their homes Some are incredibly touching Non Pratt Cat Clarke s in particular were my favourites As well as portraying a range of income classes, the characters are diverse in race and sexuality and personality You couldnt ask for a better collection of short stories for christmas

    5. 3.5 A really great collection of Christmas theme short stories Some I enjoyed than others but overall it was a really enjoyable read and one I m definitely glad I picked up around the holidays A lot of the stories touched on some hard hitting topics, so it wasn t by any means a fluffy Christmas read but I liked that and thought the diversity surrounding the characters and stories was great Overall my favourites from this collection were Home and Away by Benjamin Zephaniah, Ghosts of Christmas P [...]

    6. I ll Be Home for Christmas is a collection of stories by top YA authors each exploring the theme of home at Christmas and what that means for different people For some people it s being with family at a special time of year but many others aren t as lucky as to have that stability and feeling of comfort This is particularly the case for those who are homeless and Stripes have teamed up with the charity Crisis in this collaboration to raise awareness of the hardships young people are facing I tho [...]

    7. This book has an attractive cover and I like the way the edges of the pages are red I like the idea of the stories being all about home, family or lack of it and christmas, and I love the fact that money raised from the book goes to crisis, but I didn t enjoy the stories and I didn t enjoy the way they were written Lots of people seemed to like this though Wasn t for me.

    9. Fourteen British YA authors share their stories on the theme of home at Christmastime in this anthology to raise money for Crisis, the national homelessness charity. On the whole, I m not a fan of anthologies I find that they re usually a bit of a mixed bag of good, bad and unremarkable There s sometimes one or two gems that make the collection worth reading, but they re peppered between stories that are a chore to get through So I was pleasantly surprised to find that I genuinely enjoyed every s [...]

    10. I ll be home for Christmas is a collection of short stories from UKYA authors, all exploring the theme of home Relevant, since 1 from the sale of every book goes to the national homelessness charity, Crisis So home is a fairly broad theme and the range of stories and poems in this anthology is pretty eclectic Apart from anything else, it was really interesting to see how different people interpret the word There were some authors here whose work I love and some who I d never heard of and like an [...]

    11. A really cute short story collection My favourites were Family You Choose by Cat Clarke, Routes and Wings by Lisa Williamson, Homo for Christmas by Juno Dawson and Amir and George by Sita Brahmachari.

    12. This was such a lovely collection of works by some of UKYA s best authors While some of the stories were utterly heartbreaking, others were beautifully uplifting and filled me with so much joy I ll Be Home for Christmas is, in my opinion, a perfect read for the holiday season Personal favourite stories include The Bluebird by Julie Mayhew, Family You Choose by Cat Clarke, Ghosts of Christmas Past by Non Pratt, and The Afterschool Club by Holly Bourne.

    13. I m not a massive fan of anthologies as such but I picked this up because some of my favourite ukya authors are featured in it and that meant I couldn t turn it down.

    14. Some of the stories I liked than others but some e.g Cat Clarke s I absolutely LOVED and this was the perfect seasonal read

    15. Original review posted here I have been given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review This was the perfect book for me to read at the moment as I ve got super excited for Christmas, way too early this year I m a big Christmas fan normally but this year will be Little Moore s first Christmas which is doubly exciting Christmas has always been a family affair in my house and I know I ve been lucky to always be surrounded by them at this special time of year. For most of the people in th [...]

    16. I specifically left this book till December to get me into the Christmas spirit.I love reading short story collections, it s a great way to find new YA authors and sample their writing I ll be home for Christmas is a collaboration of UKYA authors and their stories of young adults and what HOME means to them I loved that this book has several genres including science fiction, Horror and Contemporary with such diverse characters We have refugees, race and sexuality being explored and there was som [...]

    17. Rating 4 sYou can read this review in full here bookendsandendings.wordpress.I have been so excited to read this book I ve been talking about it on my blog a lot, with my anticipated September releases and Christmas recommendations and so I was very happy when the holidays came around, as it was the right time of year and I had enough free time to finally read it.I completely devoured I ll Be Home for Christmas, getting through the whole anthology in maybe three hours, but what I love about it i [...]

    18. Note this is a very strong 4 star rating I ve read quite a few collections of shorts on the theme of Christmas over the years and this has got to be my favorite collection of them all It has some cute and happy and romance, of course, but it also has a touch or, to be quite honest, than a touch of darkness that I so desperately crave in everything I read This book shows that life isn t so easy, showing among other topics, what Christmas as a refugee this story really stayed with me , Christmas [...]

    19. I really enjoyed this short story collection, although i have little to compare it to as its the first short story collection i have read this year i thought all of the stories where different with the focal point of home , i really enjoyed the last story Routes and Wings by Lisa Williamson who also wrote The Art of Being Normal The short story followed a girl who worked in a sandwich shop but had to ride the night buses across London at night because she was homeless I also liked the the Afters [...]

    20. This wonderful anthology features top names in YA and is an enjoyable, if sometimes uncomfortable, read The book will help raise money for Crisis at Christmas and the stories are all on the theme of home The very word conjures up feelings of cosines and comfort but not everyone s home is like this of course and the stories give very different viewpoints I feel very grateful to have been able to read this snuggled up under a blanket whilst cooking a family roast dinner and it hurts my heart to th [...]

    21. I honestly loved this so much It s an anthology of short stories poetry revolving around Christmas and the theme of home by British YA authors so many amazing ones and there s so much diversity of different kinds it touches on so many important topics Some stories I liked a lot than others obviously Family you choose by Cat Clark, Amir and George by Sita Brahmachari and Routes and Wings by Lisa Williamson were my faves but overall definitely recommend the whole book, especially with Christmas n [...]

    22. I liked many stories and others didn t appeal to me Some highlights for me were Holly Bourne, Katy Cannon and Juno Dawson My favourite by far was Routes and Wings by Lisa Williamson

    23. This review contains some spoilers This book is difficult to review because, as I m sure you know, it s split into twelve different stories I thought I d review each individual story and then give my overall perceptions of this book Home and Away by Benjamin Zephaniah 2.5 5 starsA short and sweet poem but felt a little out of place in a book of short stories.Ghost of Christmas Past by Non Pratt 3.5 5I thought this to be one of the most memorable of the stories It s about a boy who has moved out [...]

    24. This truly a beautiful anthology I am so glad that this popped up on my Recommendations There are some truly heartbreaking stories in here, but also some real hope inducing ones Everything is so beautifully written, but it is also done tactfully and with respect to people that are actually going through these hard times I am so pleased that this is something that exists I am also so pleased that such big authors got involved in it This book is really going to help raise awareness of something th [...]

    25. Overall rating 3.75 starsI really enjoyed some of these stories, whilst others were just OK I felt that a lot of them didn t feel particularly Christmassy and some of them felt a bit similar to others But overall, it was quite enjoyable and a nice collection of stories poems.Home and Away by Benjamin Zephaniah 4 5 stars this poem was lovelyGhosts of Christmas Past by Non Pratt 3 5 stars If Only In My Dreams by Marcus Sedgwick 3 5 stars this one went over my head a bit I m not really sure what ha [...]

    27. I quite liked some of these stories, but for the most part wasn t really into this collection The stories often felt forced and not very Christmassy, which isn t fun I mean, I know it s September, but I want CHRISTMAS STORIES, okay I liked the Non Pratt one, and the space one was very lovely, but creepy, and the Lisa Williamson homelesness one heartwarming and Homo for Christmas was just excellent The rest were just a bit too creepy, or forced the refugee story , or not really resolved enough So [...]

    28. As with all collections of short stories, some are stronger than others In contrast to my usual taste with these kind of things I actually think this would have benefited from a specific angle or genre One lone poem, and one horror story mixed in with the other heartwarming or thought providing stories seemed odd.I did enjoy many of the stories, and I commend the idea behind the campaign, but I don t think it s one I would read again next year.
